Meet this month’s “Sustainability Snapshot,” the folks at Bear Creek Cabin, and learn more about their efforts to live sustainably:

What inspired you to adopt more sustainable practices in your life?

We are privileged to be both living and operating our business in this beautiful natural area. We embrace the responsibility to protect these natural resources to the best of our ability.

Sustainability Snapshot: Bear Creek Cabins

Can you give some examples of how you practice a sustainable lifestyle (either related to zero waste, renewable energy, conservation, involvement with the Evergreen Sustainability Alliance etc.)?

We have instituted a recycling program, upgraded to energy efficient lighting, upgraded to water saving fixtures in our business. We have also implemented the use of phosphate free laundry detergent and soaps within the units of our business. By doing so we eliminated all use of single use plastic for soap.

What words of wisdom do you have for someone just getting started on their journey to ‘go green’?

Just start. Making little changes can make big differences over the long term. Our first change was upgrading all of the light bulbs, which was seemingly small at the time but by doing so led to more and more changes over time.
